The New York investment bank became the first Wall Street firm to allow institutional clients access to its research offerings through an application on Apple Inc's iPad and iPhone, it said on Monday. The application also works on some iPods.

The firm is billing the Morgan Stanley Research App as "instant access" -- "anytime, anywhere" -- in a statement by Barry Hurewitz, the chief operating officer of investment research.

The app, which is available from Apple's App store, connects clients to Morgan Stanley's range of research products, which includes coverage of more than 2,600 stocks, as well as fixed income markets, currencies, and economics.

The firm's high-tech launch comes as it is expanding the reach of its global research team. In response to client demand for more research and tools, the firm has added senior analysts and bolstered its offerings.

The research app will include Morgan Stanley publications such as "Global Executive Brief," "Global Debates Playbook," "Best Ideas," "Investment Perspectives" and "FX Pulse." Clients can filter research reports by analyst, security or date.

The app is available at www.itunes.com/AppStore.
