SAP works closely with leading government organisations to address growing urbanization, demands for accountability, rising citizen service requirements, and safety expectations across various sectors including transport infrastructure, Utilities, Urban city planning agencies, Oil & Gas, Steel and Mines and Defense.

Be it the implementation at Mumbai Municipal Corporation which helps more than 1 Crore 25 Lakh Citizens with 200 Citizen Services or the Airports Authority of India which manages 125 airports, providing air navigation services over 2.8 million square nautical miles of air space, SAP solutions have facilitated a technologically enriched experience that has enabled the government organization in getting closer to its vision of better service to its citizens.

Recent public sector organizations that have joined this trend and opted for SAP technology to transact, move, store, process and analyze data in real time include Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited, Department of Posts (DoP), Indian Navy, The Finance Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP), Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd., Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Ltd.

Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited is the largest power generating entity in Andhra Pradesh and third largest power generating utility in the Country. To fulfill the every growing demand for power, the corporation has embarked on a major expansion journey. This is the first end to end implementation in this sector for SAPC. The project went live with ECC 6.0 EHP6 along with SAPC customized solutions in the area of Fuel Management, Fly Ash Management and Energy Billing.

Similarly, The Department of Posts (DoP), the government-operated postal system of India, recently deployed SAP® solutions to strengthen responsiveness and reliability across more than 155,000 post offices. Armed with a transformation charter that includes a complete overhaul of operations under an IT modernization project, the DoP will leverage SAP applications that include SAP® ERP, SAP® Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) and SAP® Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) to help increase process efficiencies and help meet its business, social and financial inclusion goals. As the DoP generates revenue of more than EUR1.1 billion while employing nearly 474,000 employees, it will also implement SAP solutions for streamlining internal processes in the areas of human resources, payroll processing and finance and accounts.

Additionally, Indian Navy, one of the largest navies in the world has adapted SAP Solutions to manage the navy-wide Financial Information System (FIS). With SAP solutions, as further added, the Indian Navy is able to better manage budget, enhance transparency to top management and enhance data integrity and consistency for better decision making.

Another recent customer of SAP, Government of Andhra Pradesh has been a pioneer in leveraging technology solutions for the betterment of the citizen services. The implementation of SAP solutions would provide a meaningful interface with both internal stakeholders and external stakeholders leading to efficient exchange of information.
