MongoDB is Snapdeal's database choice

New Delhi, INDIA: Snapdeal.com, India's online marketplace, has deployed MongoDB's scalable database to manage its extensive product catalog. Through this association, Snapdeal customers will be able to choose from over 4 million products across 500+ categories, from more than 30,000 sellers.

Kamal Brar, general manager, Asia Pacific at MongoDB, said: "With 25 million members, Snapdeal is the largest online marketplace in the country and is contributing to India's growth story in the e-commerce industry. Our document data model provides Snapdeal with a responsive and consistent platform that will enable them to provide more up-to-date and relevant product catalogs as well as better experience to their customers."

Mr. Amitabh Misra, VP - Engineering, Snapdeal.com, said: "Due to the nature of our business, we produce large amounts of structured and unstructured data. Therefore we required a platform that can store various product types in a single database, to make it easy for us to add new products as well as adapt to market demands.
