PUNE: Close on the heels of the launch of Web Samhita, a Web-based tool, Pune-based
Modular Infotech Limited has launched the Shree-Lipi 4.0, an Indian language
software package.
"Besides meeting the needs of the DTP sector and the publishing
industry, version 4.0 will cater to a number of growing areas such as the office
segment, software development and Web page designing," said Modular
director Dr MN Cooper at a press conference here.
With the addition of these 433 new fonts, Modular Infotech now has a
full-fledged library of 2,195 fonts in Indian languages, said company director
Meena Joshi. In addition to this, the latest version also has sorting, a special
feature for the book publishing industry plus Patrika, a word processor that
will be supplied with all the versions of Shree-Lipi. Apart from routine word
processing functions, Patrika also offers many useful features such as mail
merge, Indian language find, transliteration from one Indian language to
another, import export from ISCII, Rtf, HTML, plain text, modular editor and a
facility to send Indian language e-mail.
Version 4.0 also has select features of the Shree Lipi Samhita package, used
for developing software programs in Indian languages. Shree-Lipi 4.0 will be
priced between Rs 4,000 and Rs 21,000 depending on the number of features being
opted for.
Modular Infotech, which has a joint venture with TVSE, will market Shree-Lipi
4.0 through TVSE’s channel distribution network of 1550 authorized dealer
partners. With TVSE having sales representatives in 15 cities and a dealer
presence in more than 200 towns, MIT is looking for a 25 per cent increase in
its revenues which was at Rs 2.6 crore for the year ended March 2000.
