NEW DELHI, INDIA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most sought-after political leader, ahead of Jayalalithaa, Smriti Irani, and even Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first prime minister, according to the top search trends for 2014, released by Bing.
The search engine has come up with an annual look-back at what information people are searching for the most on the Internet. Not surprisingly, movies, music, sports, celebrities, politics, and news emerge as the most popular searches among Indian netizens.
World peace seems top-of-mind for online audiences, with more Indians actively tracking ISIS online than the 2014 general elections, Mangalyaan Mars Orbiter Mission, the Pro-Kabaddi League, etc. Sunny Leone starer Ragini MMS 2, 2014’s top opening weekend grosser, topped the Internet charts.
Despite retiring, Sourav Ganguly continues his reign at the top as the most popular sportsperson on the Net while Sunny Leone tops the celebrity list, fighting off challenge from Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone.
