Mobistar CEO Scheen to move to France Telecom

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM: Belgium's Mobistar said its chief executive has been given a top executive job at France Telecom, the company's majority owner which could announce its plans for the Belgian firm later on Thursday.

Benoit Scheen has been appointed executive vice-president of Europe (excluding France) by the Board of Directors of France Telecom-Orange, Mobistar said in a press release on Thursday.

France Telecom said it would announce the future of its portfolio during its second-quarter results on Thursday.

Mobistar's shares have been supported by talk that France Telecom, which owns 52.9 per cent of the company, is reconsidering its options for the Belgian company.

From September until the new appointment, Werner De Laet, chief financial officer of Mobistar, will be acting CEO, until a replacement is found, Mobistar said.
