SINGAPORE:  Increasing the use of innovative technologies is the top priority for 2015, according to a new Forrester report. The term "innovation" may be overused, but 87 per cent of global technology and business decision-makers agree, it outlined featuring findings from the Business Technographics Global Priorities & Journey survey. The report indicates that "expanding their mobile strategy internally and externally" (75 per cent) and "creating a comprehensive mobile and tablet strategy" (69 per cent) as ranking high on tech decision-makers' list of 2015 initiatives.

Vice President and Principal Analyst JP Gownder noted: "Mobility recasts the definition of PC... it's not time to scale back on PCs altogether, but categories are blurring — meaning that mobile devices like tablets might be funded out of a traditional 'PC' budget."

In the context of workforce computing, innovative technologies include developing mobile applications for workers, mobilizing data and legacy applications, improving cloud and software-as-a-service experiences, implementing tablets and/or Chromebooks as PC alternatives where appropriate, and experimenting with emerging technologies like wearables, which open up new ways to shape the customer experience.
