CHENNAI: Solution Center, a Chennai-based technology company specializing in mobile computing space, has launched two solutions - ecMobile Life Insurance Companion and ecMobile General Insurance Companion for the insurance sector.

The software solution for PDAs and handheld devices, which will work on Palm OS and Windows CE, is mainly targeted at the marketing and sales personnel in the insurance sector. The ecMobile Life Insurance Companion acts as a 'ready-reckoner' and comes up with appropriate policies for prospective clients based on their age, the salient features of the policies, loans and bonus available, premium for various kinds of policies etc.

Users can also store more than 1,000 prospect details on the palm top at a time. Back-end connectivity to the desktop permits the users to transfer details to the desktop, enabling them to carry any amount of data as per their need.

The ecMobile General Insurance Companion is a risk assessment tool, which integrates handheld computing with digital camera enabling the risk assessor to fill in the risk assessment form and take photographs of the site or vehicle together. This can be then synchronized to the server in the office or directly emailed to the office.

"LIC has approved our insurance sector solutions and is giving financial assistance to its agents for procuring these products," said Solution Center CEO and director (products) Venkatraghavan. Out of total eight lakh agents, LIC has already identified about 63,000 personnel for the use of the product.

"Talks are on with other Insurance companies in India and abroad. We would be finalizing our deals with firms in Dubai, Philippines and Malaysia in another two weeks or so," said Solution Center COO and director (marketing), R N Nagaraj Prasadh.

The Life Insurance Companion costs about Rs 21,500 while the General Insurance Companion's price varies between Rs 26,000 - Rs 45,000 based on the hardware specifications.
