NEW DELHI: Minister of State for Communications and
Information Technology Dr. Shakeel Ahmad today informed the Rajya Sabha that
there is not enough evidence to show direct health hazards of RF exposures from
Mobile Phone Base Stations (towers).
In a written reply to a question by Anusuiya Uikey, Ahmad said a committee was
constituted in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the chairmanship
of director general, Indian Council of Medical Research to study the possible
health hazards due to mobile phone base stations.
Based on its initial study, the committee has opined that there is not enough
evidence to show direct health hazards of RF exposures from Mobile Phone Base
Stations.
