NEW DELHI: Minister of State for Communications and

Information Technology Dr. Shakeel Ahmad today informed the Rajya Sabha that

there is not enough evidence to show direct health hazards of RF exposures from

Mobile Phone Base Stations (towers).

In a written reply to a question by Anusuiya Uikey, Ahmad said a committee was
constituted in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the chairmanship

of director general, Indian Council of Medical Research to study the possible

health hazards due to mobile phone base stations.

Based on its initial study, the committee has opined that there is not enough
evidence to show direct health hazards of RF exposures from Mobile Phone Base

Stations.
