BANGALORE: Mistral Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has announced the availability of NMS Communications' Vision Video Transcoder, a network resource providing video transcoding services that can be incrementally scaled as the network grows.
According to a Mistral statement, “The Vision Video Transcoder supports real-time communication with a low delay transcoding and transrating engine and provides real-time, high-density transcoding capabilities for an ever-expanding set of video formats including H.263 and MPEG-4. Its flexible and extensible architecture allows for future support of new emerging standards, such as H.264, and proprietary formats, such as WMV and Real Media.”
The Vision Video Transcoder is a telco-grade, highly available system that supports traditional management via SNMP and HTTP interfaces and runs on industry-standard hardware (Intel-based) and operating system (Linux).
The Vision Video Transcoder provides real-time video format transcoding and rate transformation, and can be extended to support various video processing features for enhancing the user experience. It is implemented as a SIP controlled networked service that can be shared between different systems in a network (such as a Vision Video Gateway or a Vision Media Server).
A high degree of interoperability is ensured through full support of industry-standard protocols and formats, including RTP, RTCP, MPEG-4, and H.263. The Vision Video Transcoder has been extensively tested in IMTC interoperability events for 3G-324M applications. It is tuned for low-latency, high-bandwidth throughput and error resilience, which are necessary to support delay-sensitive applications, such as 3G wireless video conferencing, streaming video, and multimedia gaming.
