BANGALORE: In an apparent bid to check the growing menace of submitting false resumes and similar breach of integrity, IT consulting firm MindTree Consulting today came out with a book, All About Integrity.

MindTree terminated 80 employees out of 1000 recruited during 2005-'06 after it found they had filed false information, according to Subroto Bagchi, chief operating officer, MindTree.

“MindTree is closely monitoring the resumes coming especially from Andhra Pradesh aspirants who provide false information to get a job owing to social pressures,” he added.

Fudging or 'padding' a resume could involve false details of education, extent of work experience and also job roles and projects.

Launching the book, Bagchi said, “We believe that integrity is a core attribute of being socially responsible. The idea behind this book is to reinstate the importance we give to our core values and align the diversity of talent at MindTree with the company’s values to develop a high achieving organization built on the principles of honesty and openness.”

The book is on integrity policies, case studies pertaining to breach of integrity and a few lessons, considered valuable for organization building.

With the increasing demand for talent in the IT industry, organizations are faced with the task of building a shared understanding within themselves: on what is integrity and what constitutes breach of integrity. “As a company, we believe that integrity is the key principle that its people should abide by,” Bagchi added.

Padding the resume is a growing menace all over the world. Indian IT major Wipro had earlier this year filed police complaints against a few HR outfits, which forwarded fake resumes, besides showing the door to employees who had fudged their resumes.

David Edmundson, CEO of US consumer electronics retail giant RadioShack was forced to resign in February. The reason: His resume lied about his educational background.
