Mindtree to set-up facility at Mahindra World City

CHENNAI: Mindtree Consulting, a company involved in international IT and R&D Services today said it would set-up a new facility at Mahindra World City on the outskirts of Chennai city.

Disclosing this to the media after the launching of Chennai operations by Union Communications and IT minister, Dayanidhi Maran, at Olympia IT Park, Ashok Soota, chairperson and managing director of Mindtree said that the company had signed up for a 285, 000 sq. ft. facility at the Ascendas IT Park in Mahindra World City.

“The new center will be operational in 2007-2008,” he informed, adding that 5600 people would be recruited in two phases.

The new facility at Mahindra World City would be in addition to the development center to be set-up at Bhubaneswar, for which the company has already entered into a 90-year lease agreement for 20-acres with the Government of Orissa.

Earlier launching the facility at Olympia IT Park, Dayanidhi Maran said: “With 450 million employees emerging by 10 to 12 years, it is companies like Mindtree, which not only could build great business success for itself, but for its ability to inspire many others who can build high performance organizations.”

“In the decades ahead, India needs to produce hundreds of such enterprises so that the larger dream of bringing home and prosperity to her billion children becomes a reality,” he said.

Subroto Bagchi, vice president of Mindtree said the new facility at Olympia IT Park, spanning about 30, 000 sq. ft. would be a development center.

“We have started our full-fledged operations in the Chennai center and target recruiting 300 people by the end of this fiscal,” he added.
