MindTree opens Chennai development center

BANGALORE, INDIA: MindTree Ltd has opened its own development center, MindTree Coromandel, in Chennai. The center was inaugurated by US Consul General in Chennai, David T. Hopper.

MindTree CMD Ashok Soota, said: “It is a momentous occasion for MindTree and we are glad to further strengthen our commitment to Chennai. The city’s rich talent pool, its growing infrastructure and good connectivity to Bangalore and the rest of the world made it easy for us to select it as the second city in India to set up a development center. As we begin the task of creating MindTree 2.0, MindTree Coromandel will play a critical role in our quest to be a billion dollar company.”

At the front of MindTree Coromandel is the living logo of MindTree, a unique structure depicting MindTree’s logo. At the root of the tree, earth soil from around 20 different cities of the world will be used. Another unique feature of the campus is The Arboretum, where new MindTree Minds joining from other organizations, will be assimilated into the MindTree culture and provided unique learning opportunities. The History Wall will provide visitors a glimpse of MindTree’s impressive growth over the past nine years. Celebration Wall is the collage of images that will depict the experiences of a MindTree Mind. MindTree Coromandel will also have its own Baby’s Day Out, the place where mothers can bring their children to and work from. As is the case with other MindTree facilities around the world, MindTree Coromandel will be adorned by the paintings of the children of the Spastics Society of Karnataka.

MindTree CEO Krishnakumar Natarajan, added: “We started our Chennai operations in October 2006 and have quickly scaled up our presence in the city. MindTree Chennai has won and executed projects across most of the industry groups in both IT services and R&D services businesses. Given the talent and expertise available here, we will focus on building centers of excellence in hi-tech, insurance, and automotive industry Groups."

Besides MindTree Coromandel, MindTree has three development centers in Bangalore and one in New Jersey in the US. It has also acquired land in Bhubaneswar to set up a development center. MindTree recently announced its intention to acquire Aztecsoft, the process of which when completed will provide the company additional centers in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune.

MindTree Coromandel, named after the famous coastline of India, has been built by Ascendas Mahindra IT Park Pvt Ltd. Situated in the pristine and upcoming Mahindra World City SEZ in the city suburb, MindTree Coromandel has the capacity to seat 2,800 MindTree Minds. The interiors of the center have been designed and executed by Chandavarkar and Thacker Architects Pvt. Ltd.
