Asset intensive industries, such as mining, energy, transport, government, public infrastructure and defense, are highly reliant on field workers to maintain critical assets. Real-time onsite inspections are crucial to ensure continuous uptime and avoid asset failure that can cost millions of dollars in downtime and damages and catastrophically harm workers, local communities or the environment.

Mobility on the rise
New research has revealed that even when budgets are being cut or restricted, top performing companies are maintaining or increasing their level of mobility.
According to a February 2009 report on mobility and budgets by the Aberdeen Group, between 2006 and 2009, the percentage of respondents who had a mobility initiative in place grew from 59 percent to 84 percent. For companies categorized as ‘Best in Class’ – ie those in the top 20 percent across multiple metrics – it was found that over the last 24 month period, these companies increased the number of employees covered by mobility by 44 percent . At the same time, employee productivity in these companies was improved by 36 percent.
