The services provided will comprise real-time professional oversight of cases performed by MidMichigan’s IONM technologists. IONM assesses neurological function involving the brain, spinal cord and related nerve structures during such surgeries. Use of IONM facilitates the surgical process and can reduce surgical risk by providing alerts to surgeons to prevent potential harm to the spinal cord or neural structures. Under the Impulse Monitoring model, IONM technologists located in the operating room work in partnership with supervising physicians who oversee the interpretation of neurophysiological data gathered via real-time broadband transmission, adds a press release.

"Our goal is to improve the quality of life for people in our communities by offering the highest standards possible in clinical care,” said Dennis Quehl, R.EEG T manager of the Neurodiagnostic Testing department. “Advanced technology, teamwork and collaboration are essential tools to achieve that goal. Our partnership with Impulse uses remote collaboration technology to provide additional monitoring and expertise that ultimately lead to better patient outcomes."
