PARIS: Vivendi Universal is in talks to sell its computer games business to Microsoft Corp the Financial Times quoted sources.

The paper said it could not reach Microsoft for comment on the computer games unit, which was part of Vivendi's publishing arm, the rest of which was sold last year.

Separately, the paper quoted Vivendi Universal insiders as saying that Chief Executive Jean-Rene Fourtou was confident of reaching an agreement with Hollywood executive Barry Diller to unscramble the legal arrangements that prevent Fourtou selling Universal Studios and USA Networks.

It said Fourtou and Diller had held talks last week to renegotiate the complicated joint-venture set up by Fourtou's predecessor, Jean-Marie Messier.

Vivendi insiders said it was likely Diller would trade the rights that enabled him to block a sale of USA Networks assets for an increased stake in Vivendi Universal Entertainment.
