Microsoft unveils Xbox One, to hit mkt in late 2013

After a eight years gap, software giant Microsoft on Tuesday unveiled its "Xbox One", a new gaming console aimed at dominating consumers' living rooms in the $65 billion-a-year computer game market.

The new device interacts with a television, responds to voice and gesture commands, includes group video calling on Skype, 15 exclusive game titles and original programming content.

The Xbox One compete with Nintendo Co's new Wii U and Sony Corp's forthcoming PlayStation 4 ,will be sold worldwide by 2013 year-end .

Microsoft games unit chief Don Mattrick who provided details about the new console told reporters that Xbox One will bring an array of exclusive media content. It will be the first platform to release the next installment in Activision Blizzard Inc's blockbuster shooter franchise, "Call of Duty" and "Halo" live-action video series produced by Steven Spielberg.

Reuters reports that Microsoft hopes its third-generation Xbox console will attract video game fans who are increasingly sampling games on mobile devices, while also becoming a hub for living room entertainment.
