Microsoft unveils Internet explorer 9

BANGALORE, INDIA: Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. today announced its latest browser Internet Explorer 9 for consumers in India.

Unveiled at TechEd India 2011, the company claims that the new Internet Explorer 9 (IE 9) enables a richer, more immersive web experience by enriching consumers’ of the websites that they love to visit.

Hemant Sachdev, joint managing director, Microsoft India said, "Our approach with Internet Explorer 9 was not only to create a ‘speed and feed machine’ but to also create a browser that would bring back the focus to the sites our consumers love to visit."

He added, "With its clean and minimalist look, Internet Explorer 9 is site-centric rather than browser centric. Consumers too are appreciating our approach to this browser — Internet Explorer 9 has been downloaded 2.3 million times in just 24 hours of its global launch, and has already gained more than 2 percent usage on Windows 7.”

One-Box: Incorporates search capabilities into the address bar directly. Internet Explorer 9 maintains the privacy of the keystrokes entered into One Box

Tear-off tabs: When users need to use more than one website to accomplish a task, this feature helps with the side-by side comparison (using Aero Snap feature in Windows 7)

Integrated Windows 7 navigation: Web navigation is easier in Internet Explorer 9 with features that are integrated with Windows 7 navigation, such as Pinned sites, Jump Lists, Aero Snap, tear-off tabs, and thumbnail controls. This allows users to get to their favorite sites and content quickly and carry out common tasks for each site right from the Windows 7 jump list
