HYDERABAD: Microsoft has announced the launch of its beta version of
Microsoft Visual J# for .Net platform. It is part of the Microsoft India
development center’s product initiative for the .Net platform and it is
designed to enable Java language programmers to immediately migrate to the .Net
platform.
"The product improves the interoperability of Java-based programs with
software written in a variety of other programming languages," said, Srini
Koppolu, MD for the company’s R&D facility in Hyderabad. He also added
that more than 35 engineers had been working on the development of the product
for the past two years. This is the second product developed and conceived by
the company’s R&D facility situated in Hyderabad. The first product
released was Services For Unix(SFU).
Visual J# .Net is fully integrated with Visual Studio .Net integrated
developed environment and it offers support to XML-based web services. It has
full access to the .Net framework including the ASP.NET, ADO.NET and windows
forms. The product has also integrated more than 20 other languages. The beta 1

likely by mid next year.
Existing applications developed with Visual J++ can be easily modified to
execute the .NET framework, inter-operate other .NET languages and applications.
The Microsoft development center in Hyderabad is also working on an add-on for
Outlook Express, which is likely to be released next year.
