BANGALORE, INDIA: Microsoft Office starting today will be available in all iOS and Android tablets and smartphones with new features. Starting thursday, Microsoft is giving its Office 365 free to its users.

Customers now on iPhone, iPad and Android can create and edit Office content without a subscription.

John Case, corporate vice president, Office, Microsoft, said: “Anytime someone has an idea or an inspiration, we want to empower them to take action. With over a billion Office customers worldwide, and over 40 million downloads on the iPad, it’s clear that Office applications are what people want to use to get things done.”

Micrsoft has updated its ipad and new iPhone app for Word, Excel and PowerPoint which can be downloaded from today. Android customers can also sign up for preview but the general availability is expected in early 2015.

Customers get set of features from an Office 365 subscription, including 1 terabyte of OneDrive online storage.

The new Office for iPad and for iPhone apps are available in 29 languages and 136 countries. The apps require an iPad or iPhone running iOS 7.0 or later.
