Microsoft launches security soln in India

NEW DELHI: Microsoft Corp. India today unveiled a suite of integrated security and management solutions under the System Center and Forefront brands to help the organizations to improve efficiency, resilience and security of their IT Infrastructure.

In India, Microsoft is currently introducing three key products: Microsoft Forefront Client Security, Microsoft System Center Essentials 2007 and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007, the Redmond, Washington-based firm said in a statement.

Forefront and System Center Essentials were formally launched in Los Angeles early last month.

Tim Sinclair, general manager, Management and Solutions Division, Microsoft, said, “Microsoft’s System Center and Forefront are part of Microsoft’s broader vision to transform IT infrastructure into a strategic asset.”

“Through deeper integration of System Center and Forefront solutions, security and management specialists will now be able to standardize their processes for gathering and prioritizing incidents; assign resources to addressing issues and managing changes as well as resolve problems, thus providing complete control of their IT infrastructure,” he added.

According to Kapil Dev Singh, country manager, IDC (India) Ltd, "With the security software market in India expected to grow at a CAGR of 28.06 per cent during 2006-2011 and the Indian system infrastructure software market projected to grow at a CAGR of 21.1 per cent over the same period, as per IDC's latest Packaged Software market forecast (December 2006), both have emerged as key focus areas for organizations across India – be it large enterprises or small & medium businesses.”

“Microsoft has started focusing on the system management and infrastructure security markets in India, and the launch of its comprehensive product suite, will surely offer new options to enterprise users in India,” he added.

The list pricing for Forefront Client Security starts at $12.72 per user or device per year for the security agent and at $2,468 per year for the management console. Microsoft System Center Essentials is offered as a management server with built-in support to manage 50 clients and 10 servers starting at $2,000.

The products will be available in July via standard Microsoft volume licensing and retail channels.
