HYDERABAD: Putting the processes in place to become a Six Sigma company will take just half the time now. “Using Microsoft products we have developed a frame work Six Sigma Accelerator which makes it possible,” said Microsoft Product Manager Tarun Malik. Six Sigma Accelerator is being launched on August 1, 2003 at Asia SEPG Conference 2003 in Hyderabad.

The accelerator is based on Microsoft technology that is already deployed in many of the organizations running Six Sigma projects — Project Server 2002 (The EPM solution), Office, Visio and Share Point Portal Server on the Wintel platform. Microsoft will be partnering with QAI and Eicher Consulting to deploy the Microsoft Accelerator for Six Sigma in organizations looking at achieving this certification in near future.

The processes that qualify a company for Six Sigma certification are so stringent that depending on what stage the company is in it can take anywhere between three months to a year to put it in place. “The Six Sigma Accelerator is easily adaptable, systematic approach to processes and cuts down the time taken by 50 percent,” said Malik adding that it is ideal for the companies, which are growing.

Malik also informed that among the early adoptors are three large corporate houses -- an IT major of Bangalore, a company in Mumbai and a large pharma house in Hyderabad. “Keeping in view the WTO regime slated to begin in 2005, fast track putting of processes in place is market demand,” said Malik.
