Microsoft India, PwC intros security handbook

MUMBAI, INDIA: Microsoft India and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) today launched the Microsoft Platform Security and Audit Handbook 2008 targeted at safeguarding the information systems of the financial sector.

It provides bankers and auditors guidelines for maintenance of data integrity and protection against security threats.

Over the last two decades, customers have felt the positive impact of technological solutions implemented by banks.

Pallavi Kathuria, director, Server Business, Microsoft India, said, "Microsoft is deeply committed to delivering secure technologies, products and processes that customers need to ensure safety of critical data. The Security Handbook comprises two sections: the first section considers Windows Desktop (2000, XP, Vista) and Windows Server (2003) Operating Systems and identifies separately the difference in the review procedure for each.

The second section takes into consideration the SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 Databases.

Along with the Security Handbook, Microsoft and PwC have also published vital systems security resources such as Audit and Intrusion Detection Tools, Security Guides and valuable guidance on systems security practices in the form of a Security CD.

The Handbook and Security CD are available to banks, financial institutions, Systems Security Auditors and Consultants free of cost.
