Microsoft to enhance academic excellence in Gujarat

AHMEDABAD: Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd and the Government of Gujarat has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at providing easier access to information technology and solutions to faculty and university students in the State.

According to the agreement, Microsoft will impart training to students in the pre-final or final year of Bachelors of Engineering (Computer Science and IT stream) and MCA programs, leveraging BISAG SATCOM facility. The faculty in these institutions will also thus get an opportunity to collaborate with experts from across the world, along with getting access to Microsoft’s premium technology events. These trained students will also be working on the e-governance projects being undertaken by the state and Microsoft.

This partnership will allow students in Gujarat to develop skills on next-generation Microsoft tools and technologies including .NET, thereby improving their career prospects. As part of the agreement, Microsoft and the Government will also work together on several e-governance projects, thereby leveraging IT for programs that impact the common man.

Commenting on the announcement a spokesperson from Microsoft India, said, “Our partnership with the Government of Gujarat is a big step forward towards providing the next generation of India’s technologists with in-depth technical skills. It will also help the state in taking its e-governance initiatives to the next level.”
