NEW YORK: Microsoft Corp. is expected to unveil some changes to its upcoming
Windows XP operating system, allowing users to see multiple third-party online
photo-finishing services instead of just those affiliated to the software maker,
The Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition on Sunday.
The newspaper said Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft has agreed to modify
some of the software's photography features, following complaints by photography
firm Eastman Kodak Co.
It added that Microsoft had also agreed to clearly label its built-in photo
software as its own, and to work with Kodak to make sure Kodak cameras work
easily with Windows XP.
Kodak had complained that Microsoft designed Windows XP unfairly, giving
preference to its own software and links to Microsoft-affiliated online
photo-finishing services, the newspaper said. Company officials could not
immediately be reached for comment.
