MUMBAI, INDIA: Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft, is reaping not only accolades but also cash rewards for his mobile-first cloud-first strategy and its business outcomes.

As per an annual proxy statement released by the company yesterday, Nadella earned more than $18 million during the company's fiscal 2015, which ended on June 30.

In addition to the $4.3 million bonus, Nadella earned $1.2 million in salary and $12.8 million in stock.

As part of his compensation package, Nadella earned 120 percent of his targeted annual cash award, a $4.3 million bonus. That amount was calculated based on Nadella's performance against his core priorities and operational performance of Microsoft.

While Microsoft's operating income and earnings per share declined in fiscal 2015, consistent progress was made in building future growth opportunities, according to the proxy statement.

"Nadella provided strong, consistent vision and execution on our mobile-first and cloud-first strategy, continued to effectively guide the transformation of the company's culture and he effectively represented the Company with customers, partners, investors and employees," the company noted in the proxy statement.

"Nadella established and articulated the company's three broad ambitions to focus the company's offerings, and consolidated the operating systems and devices groups into the Windows and Devices Group. Under his leadership, Windows 10 was successfully launched and the executive compensation program became significantly more performance-based," Microsoft said in the statement.
