MF Farooqui to be new telecom secretary

Heavy Industries secretary MF Farooqui has become new telecom

secretary. Farooqui- a 1978 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS will succeed R

Chandrasekhar on April 1, 2013.

This, has however been confirmed to CIOL by a highly-placed source in

the telecom ministry. "Yes, the telecom department has received formal

order on appointment of Mr Farooqui," he informed.

A native of Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, Farooqui has worked in various

departments that include Environment & Forests, Science & Technology,

Law & Justice, Economic Affairs and External Affairs.

Farooqui holds post graduation degree in Physics.
