PASADENA, USA: Metacloud Inc., which deploys and supports OpenStack-based private clouds for some of the world's largest enterprises, today announced that video streaming leader Ooyala has selected them to build, deploy, and manage an on-premises private cloud in their Santa Clara data center.
Under the terms of the agreement, Metacloud will build, deploy, and manage Ooyala's Western US Availability Zone. This includes 24x7 monitoring, proactive troubleshooting, and upgrades for the life of the contract.
"This move is an evolution of our strategy," said Ooyala's director of Platform Engineering and Operations Peter Bakas. "We will continue to use public cloud for a large percentage of our workloads-particularly in international sites, where the complexity of managing our own facility outweighs the benefits we expect to accrue from a private cloud deployment."
"Ooyala is a great example of a company that's pushing cloud computing to the next level. They leveraged first generation public cloud for years because it was quick and easy. But now they've gotten to a point where they're saying the cloud also has to be cost-effective and deliver reliable performance. Those are areas where the Metacloud solution excels," said Metacloud VP of Sales Bert Condensa.
