The IT consultancy firm has launched a service to help Chief Information Officers (CIOs) link technology performance with business goals, and identify areas for improvement.
Meta's IT 360 assessment service is designed to give IT chiefs a better view of spending and performance. It takes into account budget, spending and performance data collected from organisations worldwide, along with the customer organisation's own financial and performance data.
Meta pointed out that rival services mainly focus on total cost of ownership, but its system is designed to pinpoint problem areas such as gaps in technology readiness, process maturity, customer satisfaction and business alignment.
"Isolating any one of these elements gives you a basic viewpoint into IT performance," said Charlie Ambuhl, Meta's vice president for benchmarking in Europe. "Analysing all the factors gives a complete view."
The service also analyses how firms' IT spending compares to that of other organisations in the same industry. "The goal of IT 360 is to have a more comprehensive and relevant set of observations and recommendations for the CIO," Ambuhl said.
Meta's recent survey of performance measurement practices suggests there may be a demand for such services. Of 600 senior IT executives questioned, 42 percent were either unaware of whether their organization performed IT benchmark analyses or admitted to not benchmarking at all. Under its new service, Meta aims to deliver results and recommendations within eight weeks.
The price of the service starts at around $65,000 (£35,000).
