Meta, formerly named Facebook has come up with new enhancement feature that will give users an easier for Facebook Reels users to discover and personalize recommendations.
How does the new feature improve user experience:
As FB's Reels feature is showing highly growth, the platform has come up with updates aimed at making it easier for users to discover them across the app. The changes have been made to the way Reels are appeared in Facebook Watch, with the addition of Reels to the main navigation at the top of Facebook Watch. This provides users with quick access to short-form video content, making it easier to explore creators, trends, and content that aligns with their interests. Also, users can now seamlessly switch between watching Reels and longer-form videos while on Facebook.
Meta has announced about the latest features on twitter and wrote “If you like Reels, you’re gonna Reel’y love this”
This announcement comes a few weeks after Meta added support for longer Facebook Reels of up to 90 seconds, along with some new creative tools, including a new templates feature that lets users create Reels with trending templates.
Key highlights:
Meta introducing new personalization controls for Reels that let you customize what its users want to see more or less of, so the videos you see are more relevant to you.
- It made short-form video more discoverable on Facebook by adding Reels to the main navigation of Facebook Watch.
- Users will now be able to scroll seamlessly between reels and longer videos when watching content from creators on Facebook.
- Meta said that on Facebook you can discover people, content, and experiences that help you explore and grow in your interests. Reels also continue to become more social with people re-sharing reels across our apps more than 2 billion times every day, doubling over the last six months.
Contextual labels:
Facebook is also launching new contextual labels on the Reels video player to explain why you’re seeing a certain reel. For instance, if a friend of yours liked it, you'll see a label and Facebook will now tell you why it's on your feed.
New Ways to Discover and Personalize Facebook Reels:
Similar to other Facebook personalization tools, we want to give you more control over the reels you see across the app.
Show more, Show less: We want reels to reflect your interests – to help you explore what you enjoy now, while also helping you discover interests, creators and communities you’ll love going forward. Now, you can inform the types of reels you’ll see more or less of by tapping the three-dot menu at the bottom of the video player and selecting either Show More or Show Less. You’ll also begin to see this option below reels as well as videos in your Watch feed. Selecting Show More on a reel will temporarily increase its ranking score and for reels like it. Selecting Show Less will temporarily decrease its ranking score. By capturing your direct feedback, we’re able to make reels ranking smarter and more attuned to your preferences.
How can users access the new feature:
To access these new exciting features, users can update their Facebook app on Android and iOS devices.
