Launch of new STPI incubation centre, Dehradun

Last week, Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, CM, Uttarakhand and Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad jointly inaugurated a new STPI incubation centre at Dehradun, Uttarakhand. STPI is establishing a state-of-the-art Incubation facility having around 30,000 sqft built-up space at Dehradun to cater to the needs of IT and ITeS industry in the region. There will be a provision of raw and plug-n-play incubation space for IT/ITeS companies, especially for entrepreneurs/start-ups. Apart from this, the building will also be housing Network Operation Centre (NOC). It will provide High-Speed Data Communication (HSDC) services to the IT/ITeS industry.

Industry and government leaders who attended the program included Shri Sanjay Dhotre, Smt Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Tehri Garhwal, Shri Ganesh Joshi, Shri Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, Shri Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Shri Om Prakash, Shri Ramesh Kumar Sudhanshu, Dr Omkar Rai, Director General, STPI and Shri Devesh Tyagi, Senior Director, STPI.

“The incubation centre will facilitate the desired ecosystem for startups. It will bolster employment opportunities to the youth of the region. Further, it will promote research and innovation and entrepreneurship, rev up product innovation and create IPRs,” underlined Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat. Dr Ravi Shankar Prasad adds that “CHUNAUTI” will encourage young innovators in small cities to develop ground-breaking products. Further, the Dehradun branch will provide them financial support upto Rs. 25 lakhs.

The Software Park has been instrumental in promoting IT exports from the State of Uttarakhand since the inception of Dehradun centre in 2001. Over the years, the centre has played a very important role to promote the region as a preferred IT destination. It acts as a single-window agency for IT/ITES industry.

Presently 13 units are registered with STPI. The software exports made by STP units from Uttarakhand was Rs 150 crores in the year 2019-20. It also helped in generation of direct (over 2500 people) and indirect employment and overall development of the economy of the region.
