Meghalaya STPI to function from Dec 2006

NEW DELHI: The central government has approved the setting up of the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) at Shillong, Meghalaya, which is set to start functioning from December.

Speaking to CyberMedia News, Robert Garnett Lyngdoh, Minister of state for Information Technology, Meghalaya, said that the state government has allotted a plot of land at Shillong and the work for setting up the centre has started.

“The park will start functioning from December this year. The state government is investing in setting up the infrastructure of the park and the centre has also supported us by funding in this initiative,” Lyngdoh said.

Currently, STPI has centers at Guwahati (Assam), Imphal (Manipur) and Gangtok (Sikkim) in the northeast.
