PUNE: Medybiz, an Indian Internet and telephone health services company, has
launched Medycard, the `first of its kind' personalized health card. This health
card also serves as a gateway for easy access to all Medybiz services like door
delivery of medicines, administration of diagnostic tests at home and arranging
appointments with leading doctors in the city. The card is being launched at a
special introductory price of Rs. 500.
Medycard is a credit card sized plastic card, which contains personal and
medical information, most needed in critical medical setting. Users can carry
the card easily in their purse or wallet at all times, giving medical personnel
immediate access to their concise medical history, current medications,
allergies, the names and telephone numbers of family, friends and the family
doctor and other information necessary for medical treatment decisions.
Medycard allows participating medical personal to respond to a patient's
needs more effectively because pertinent information is available when and where
needed. Partha Pratim Roy, director, marketing, says that their aim is to ensure
that every resident has control over his or her health, especially in times of
emergencies. In an emergency, like accident, the patient is not in a position to
communicate the information to passersby or doctors and is restricted to the
person's address and name. Medycard helps supply time-critical information that
can help medical personnel to make the right diagnosis and offer the right
treatment.
Medybiz CEO Suryanarayanan said that in difficult circumstances even the
patient's family members could give a wrong answer. With Medycard, users will be
able to get easy access to all Medybiz services and products besides special
benefits such as free accident risk insurance worth Rs 1 lakh.
The card will also carry the users' Medybiz registration number, which can be
used to access all Medybiz products and services and avail special discounts.
Cardholders can avail of Rs 200 on purchases made at Medyshop, the online store
of Medybiz. Currently Medycard is valid in 80 medical institutions like
Speciality, Ranbaxy, Nanavati and Jaslok among others.
