LAS VEGAS: From CTIA Wireless 2008, Medio Systems, the leader in mobile search and advertising, has announced the launch of the Medio Mobile Content Partner Program. As part of the program, Medio is signing some of the preeminent companies in their content categories, and some of the most popular categories in mobile search. These partners will add high-quality content to the over 300 feeds Medio has already ingested.

These partners will provide deeper access to content for Medio uSearch, the company’s groundbreaking universal search offering that will become available later this year. Medio uSearch will simplify the mobile search experience by enabling users to quickly and easily find the on- and off-deck content they want from a single search box. Powered by exclusive personalization and analytics technologies, Medio uSearch will offer relevant answers from across the mobile world.

“The Medio Mobile Content Partner Program is the first step in creating the most intuitive, user-friendly universal search experience available,” said Brian Lent, CEO of Medio Systems. “We have enlisted category leaders to provide the information that mobile users want. The caliber of these partners is a strong indication that our universal search will provide the best content experience in mobile.”

At the Mobile World Congress in Feb. 2008, Medio also announced its own research findings: Historically, the majority of mobile on-deck search queries have sought downloadable mobile content. Medio Systems’ research suggests that while downloadable content is still the most popular query type in mobile search, the prevalence of this type of search is shrinking dramatically, to 60 percent of all searches since July 2007. This finding corresponds with the associated growth in the Web/WAP category, which has seen a usage increase of 43 percent in the same period. This research points clearly to the fact that mobile consumers increasingly want a variety of content, including both downloadables and information.

The content partners in the program will also be available to publishers who implement Medio Mobile Search for Publishers. Offering a single search box for partner sites, Medio Mobile Search for Publishers makes it easy for people to find content both within the site and across the Mobile Web while generating revenue via relevant search ads. Medio partner publishers include CBS and ABC.
