BANGALORE: McDowell & Co. Ltd., of the UB group, India’s largest
spirits company, is readying for a foray into the dotcom segment with the launch
of a B2C portal. Through this, customers can buy all types of UB brand liquors
on-line. As a part of its initiative, the company has re-launched its existing
Web site www.mcdowell.com to generate
high brand recall among the Internet audience for McDowell’s range of spirits.
Speaking about the on-line venture UB Sprits Division vice president-franchise
& marketing services Anant Iyer said, "McDowell is the most dominant
player in the liquor retail business and we intend to dominate the liquor e-tail
business as well. We have drawn up an on-line marketing strategy, which will be
implemented over the next one year. Along with this, to reach out to specific
target audience on the Net, we are promoting our brands on satyamonline.com,
usa.net, myiris.com, contests2win.com etc."
The new Web site provides information about the company, the core brands of
the McDowell family and McDowell’s Derby under the events section.
