BANGALORE: McAfee Security, a division of Network Associates, Inc., has announced that its online managed security services has protected more than 1.2 million users and has detected and cleaned more than 60 million infected files this year, up from 10 million in August 2001.

According to the IDC report "Anti Virus Software 2002 — A Segmentation of the Market", McAfee Security’s online security technology dominates the managed anti-virus services space with 74 percent worldwide market share. In India, McAfee Security, in alliance with Secure Synergy, has successfully signed two large clients within 3 months of the launch, indicating a similar demand in India for this service.

As virus and security threats continue to be a concern for businesses, McAfee’s online managed services maintain and collect a growing number of new virus samples used to further protect its subscribers worldwide through easy, online updates and 24/7 monitoring and reporting.

Network Associates, Country Manager — SAARC, Vishwajeet Deshmukh, said, "The sixty million milestone is an important indicator that, with the increase in complex Internet-based security threats, customers need comprehensive, up-to-the minute protection against viruses and malicious code."

He added, "We are pleased to see the continued growth of McAfee’s online security services, allowing our customers to focus on critical business issues rather than the latest Internet security threat."

The McAfee online managed services currently provide always-on, always-updated virus scanning at both the desktop and via email, that ensures protection against latest vulnerabilities. The services are seamlessly delivered and managed via the Internet to provide immediate, cost-effective security solutions to the full range of small to mid-size companies.
