McAfee to increase sub-distributors

McAfeeNEW DELHI, INDIA: McAfee, a major player that delivers solutions for virus protection and Internet security, is planning to increase the number of sub-distributors in India this year.

The company offers its products and solutions through direct sales, partnership with OEMs and retail. McAfee is also banking high on Global Threat Intelligence technology to provide an unprecedented level of protection.

In an interaction with CIOL, Ben Wark, sales manager for Business Development, SEA and India, Consumer, SMB and Mobile Division, McAfee said that the company plans to increase the number of sub-distributors to 22 by the end of current year. It has also forged a retail partnership with Croma and Reliance Digital.

“McAfee has been working with retail channel partners in India for more than three years now and has an extremely robust and successful partner framework. We have Ingram Micro as our exclusive National Distributor and sub-distributor each in 11 major cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Gurgaon and Chandigarh,” he said.

The company is banking on its unique Global Threat Intelligence that includes security know-how from McAfee’s researchers, threat honey pots and the installed base of McAfee products to make computer security on every computer protected at no additional cost.

McAfee uses a globally deployed technology that delivers customers real-time comprehensive malware protection.

“This new technology provides effective and rapid reaction to new threats without requiring a traditional, scheduled full signature update (DAT) and shields computer users against attacks as they happen,” he said.

The company said that their retail route entails tying up with large format retailers (LFRs) to stock their products and engage in special promotional schemes with such stores.

“We also have strategic partnerships with OEMs such as laptop manufacturers, ISPs and telcos along with financial institutions to bundle McAfee products with their brands. In the laptop space, we have partnerships with Dell, HCL and Acer and this extends to India as well,” he said.
