BANGALORE, INDIA: McAfee, a leading security vendor, today announced the availability of real-time security management for all classes of its customers with the incorporation of the new Artemis Technology.

Artemis will be available as part of McAfee's security software for PCs and is currently deployed across McAfee's consumer base.

Jeff Green, senior vice president of McAfee Avert Labs, said that the McAfee Artemis Technology is a McAfee unique technology that delivers customers real-time comprehensive malware protection within no time. This technology provides effective and rapid reaction to new threats without requiring a traditional, scheduled full signature update (DAT) and shields computer users against attacks as they happen.

"The technology provides an important new weapon in the fight against cybercrime, allowing McAfee's security products to provide protection from known and emerging threats," Green noted.

How it works?

When a suspicious file is detected on a computer protected by a McAfee anti-malware product with Artemis, the Artemis technology connects to McAfee servers in real time and checks against an extensive database that contains known good and know bad software.

With real time input from tens of millions of McAfee protected system, this technology provides an "up-to-the-minute" repository of malware samples and information unlike any previous system for classifying and identifying malicious software. If a suspicious file is found to be malicious, the customer's system will be notified in real time and protected on the fly.

The Artemis query and response happens in milliseconds, ensuring no change in user experience, Green said adding that enterprises are adopting the technology at a rapid pace, as the need for faster and more accurate protection is consistently recognized.
