Mauj Mobile strengthens its management team

MUMBAI, INDIA: Mauj Mobile, a mobile Internet services provider which is part of the People Group that owns digital properties like Shaadi.com and Makaan.com, today announced the expansion of its management team.

The company said it has appointed Prasad Nair as the head of sales (content business and international business), Hari Nair as the head of content operations, and Jayant Verma as the head of product development.

As head of sales (content business and international business), Prasad Nair will be responsible for new business development, day-to-day engagement with Indian and international clients and ongoing revenue management, said a press release.

Prasad brings with him, over 12 years of experience in IT and telecom industry handling regional head roles in Spice Digital and Airtel Enterprise Services.

Hari Nair, who joins Mauj as head of content operations, will be responsible for leading all content-related functions which include licensing acquisition, operations and programming of content and working closely with the content partners of the company and the mobile operators, said Mauj. Hari has over 12 years of experience with companies such as Comviva, Soundbuzz (Motorola), Reliance and Repro.

As the head of product development, Jayant Verma will be responsible for innovation, product development and product operations at Mauj.

With a career span over 14 years, he has a decade of experience in telecom VAS market, developing and managing consumer VAS products and services on various mobile media including mobile Internet (WAP/GPRS), on-device OSes, SMS, and Voice with organizations such as One97 Communications Ltd and ACL Wireless Ltd.

Commenting on these appointments, Badri Sanjeevi, COO, Mauj Mobile, said “Prasad, Hari and Jayant join Mauj Mobile’s management team at a critical juncture — launch of 3G services by operators in India and Mauj’s recent acquisition of Mobango, a UK based company and the World’s First Social Mobile Application Store.”

He said their VAS industry experience will drive growth for Mauj Mobile and reaffirm the company’s position in the mobile VAS segment.

Mobango, the mobile applications stores, has over 1.5 million applications, games and UGC content available globally. Mauj said Mobango has a global customer base having served over 700 million downloads globally already with India contributing to 30 per cent of downloads.
