Mastersoft partners Melstar for data products

MUMBAI, INDIA: Mastersoft Research, the customer information integrity solutions provider, has today announced its alliance with Melstar Information Technologies in Mumbai.

Under the partnership, Melstar will offer Mastersoft’s data quality management products and services to Indian enterprises. The Mumbai-based firm will provide software integration services to enterprises for the Harmony customer data quality management applications.

According to Melstar’s CEO Richard D’Souza, the company started with hardware but in the last 10 years it focused mainly on software and its key strength is software as a service (SaaS).

“Melstar will be providing the integration of Harmony products and services to Indian enterprises. And will be focusing on those verticals where large volumes of data are generated such as banking, finance, insurance along with telecom and utility,” D’Souza said.

He added that Melstar will build own products around Harmony and will integrate for Indian customers. D’Souza told CyberMedia News that the company has about 500 staff that are employed on clients’ projects and have plans to raise the staff strengths to 1500 in the next two years.

While, Mastersoft Research’s CEO Susan Hyland said that data quality is the major issue in India as it drives larges volumes of data across businesses.

“Our data quality products are based on complex architecture and environment and hence Melstar has the knowledge, skills and competency to integrate and customize our products and services to customers,” she said.

According to George Langley, Mastersoft’s vice president of Product Management, in the coming years the knowledge development for products would be done in India. He also said the company would be looking at the outsourcing model in future for products and services and also will look at other IT partners in India.

“We will look at more local IT players in the coming years but will not have strategic partnership as done with Malestar. We will be looking more of regional partners,” Langley stressed.

Presently, Mastersoft is not having any clients and is banking partnership with Malestar to penetrate in the Indian market. Even Yash Birla Group, which had acquired Malestar a year back, has plans to enter in league of top IT players in India and expand its business portfolio.

However, details about the financial agreements and revenues sharing between the two companies were not disclosed to media.
