Mastek, Deloitte ink JV on software service

MUMBAI: The Mumbai-based Mastek and global consulting firm, Deloitte

Consulting have entered into a 50:50 joint venture to set up a new firm that

would offer India-based software services. The new firm will focus in areas such

as application development, systems implementation/integration, and information

technology outsourcing services.

Mastek develops and markets software, and offers system integration services

and solutions in areas such as e-Business, CRM, and enterprise applications.

Deloitte Consulting a consulting firm, providing services in all aspects of

enterprise transformation, from strategy and processes to information technology

and human resources.

Addressing a press conference, Mastek CEO Raj Joshi said the JV would enable

Deloitte Consulting to offer its clients globally used custom software

development that will be faster and economical.

However, this joint venture isn’t Deloitte Consulting first contact with

Mastek as they duo have worked before on several major projects. Mastek CMD,

Ashank Desai said the official launch of this new venture, which will be set up

in Mumbai, will be in July 2001.

While Mastek will take care of delivery, operations and provide

infrastructure support, Deloitte Consulting will contribute its project

management expertise, functional knowledge and make use of its global clientele.

The JV's services will be delivered as part of the broader Deloitte

Consulting services to its global clients across the financial services,

telecommunications, manufacturing, consumer business, energy, health care, and

public sector industry sectors. The staff for the new firms will comprise of

personnel from both the companies and fresh recruitment will also be undertaken.
