AHMEDABAD: Gandhinagar based Masibus India, a global software service
provider, has joined hands with Europe software leader Navision to offer
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution to the small and medium enterprise
market segment.

Incidentally Microsoft has offered Navision, the Danish software major to the
tune of $ 1.33 billion, in one of the biggest software takeovers. The agreement
envisages Masibus to market and implement Navision's solutions - Navision Attain
and Navision Financials.

Masibus has the expertise in process instrumentation software, security
applications and offshore development. Established in 1975 and privately owned,
the company has also been in turbulent times in the wake of sectarian violence
in Gujarat.

"The business has affected to a certain level. I don't have any idea
whether it will be recovered. But what I cannot recover is the talent pool in
the form of manpower," said Masibus managing director, K Subramaniam.

Navision, on the other hand provides solutions in almost all the areas
especially in financial management, customer relationship management,
manufacturing, distribution, human resource and business intelligence and
e-business. With more than 1.3 lakh customers and presence in over 30 countries,
Navision has been spearheading the software solutions in European markets.

Market sources speculate this as the major consideration that Microsoft saw when
they offered to buy Navision.

ERP, the once blue eyed solution has come down the drains mainly because of the
cost and the commissioning time. But Subramaniam says that his tie-up will
change the way people viewed ERP both in terms of quality and price. India has
nearly 143 companies where ERP is functional. But more went down the hole trying
to implement it.
