NEW DELHI: LogicaCMG has announced the successful deployment of its Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC) with AirTel, an Indian mobile service operator. The solution has enabled AirTel to launch its MMS services to three million subscribers across India during February 2003, allowing consumers to send content-rich multimedia messages with photos, audio and video clips.
Based on open standards, the scalable architecture of LogicaCMG's MMSC would allow AirTel to meet the capacity, performance, and reliability requirements necessary to support the introduction and growth of premium MMS services.
This would also allow AirTel's customers to send MMS messages to MMS and legacy handsets. Besides the Masala Messaging Portal has rich content available for downloading greeting cards, screen savers, wallpapers, etc. Customers' handsets are provisioned over- the- air.
Manoj Kohli, President, Bharti Tele-Ventures, said, "We have launched MMS under the campaign called Masala Messaging to bring the elements of fun and entertainment elements inherent in MMS to the forefront. With LogicaCMG's experience and expertise and AirTel's focus on customer satisfaction we will endeavor to enhance user experience and encourage subscribers to use Masala Messaging."
