MUMBAI: As Computer Associates (CA) tries to cope with the continuing lull in IT spending, it has made a big push towards security management at its three-city security roadshow held in New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. Held in association with Dataquest, boosting the automation of security and systems management was CA's key focus during the roadshows.

Reiterating the fact that security policy and its management is a must, CA Asia South MD, Piti Pramotedham said, "After 9/11, every single big vendor either bought a security group or formed one internally and stated that security is their first concern. To do Web services security correctly, you have to have a strong foothold in policy, management and technology. One can draw conclusions about CA's efforts from that".

During the event, CA e-Trust brand strategy director, Anthony Lim demonstrated its Antivirus 'eTrust' that the company claims protects enterprise environments from a full range of viruses and malicious code. He demonstrated total coverage for the enterprise, from critical potential points of entry at the perimeter to mobile devices in the field. An intuitive Web-based management makes it easy for security administrators to automate signature distribution and track events across the enterprise. This ease of administration and signature deployment is critical for effective virus protection.

In response to the increasing demand by IT professionals for the latest, best information on security strategies, the roadshow was the largest in a series of successful informational outreach programs staged by the company. The CA Security Management Roadshow brought top experts including hundreds of CIOs, to provide IT professionals across the country with the opportunity to learn the latest innovations in security and to better secure their organizations.

CA India country manager, Ninad Karpe said, "The widespread user participation and interest in these roadshows is a testament not only to the demand for security solutions, but it also illustrates CA's combined commitment to providing secure computing environments."
