MakersBox: A Startup for Startups

India is truly witnessing a Start-up revolution of sorts. What could be a better example of this than MakersBox, a startup promoting startups? MakersBox, a company leading the digital innovation space in India has opened it’s innovation Maker Lab in the City of Karnal which will accelerate hardware design, innovation, Internet of things, and Digital making for innovators, educators, and startups in India.

The Innovation lab that was  inaugurated by Mr. B.L. Chawla, father of Late Kalpana Chawla, first woman of Indian origin in space, is fully fitted with Mechanical Tools, 3D Printers, Arduino and Raspberry PI boards, Computers, Lego Educational Kits, Robotic Kits, , High Speed Wireless Internet, MakersBox Courseware and Software.

MakersBox works around the philosophy of inspiring people to create and invent things and helps them to take their inventions to market.  Harpreet Kaur Sapra, Co-Founder of MakersBox said, “We have a lot of talent who has ideas but no place to turn the ideas into reality so the talent goes waste, our effort and vision are for every community to have a MakersBox Innovation Lab just like this, just like every community should have a playground for physical activity.”

MakersBox was incubated as a Startup at SproutBox, Gurgaon in October of 2015. The innovation laboratory will provide a platform where children, educators, innovators, and startups can bring in their ideas, develop proof of concepts and finally shape those into solutions using the resources available at the Lab. Following successful prototyping, MakersBox will help connect them to local technology ecosystem service providers and integrators to align with the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’ Initiatives of the Government.

Dr. J. Ganesan, Deputy Commissioner, Karnal, who was also present at the inauguration said, “I am happy to see the hard work that the MakersBox team has put in. The City has Parks, Schools and Other Recreational Facilities for our Children, the MakersBox Innovation Lab enables our vision of giving the Children and People of Karnal a world class facility, that helps them realize their dreams.”

MakersBox also maintains a Research & Development Laboratory in Delhi and works closely with Schools, Slums, Educators, Governments and Startups to grow its verticals of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (S.T.E.A.M). The startup also holds a number of record-breaking events and holding workshops for girls and differently abled individuals.
