MAIT announces ICT SME conclave 2014 across five cities

BANGALORE, INDIA: MAIT, the apex body representing India's IT hardware, training and R&D services sectors, in association with the Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) and Ministry of MSME is organizing "MAIT ICT SME Conclave - 2014" across 5 major cities in India namely Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahemdabad and Noida.

The conclave kicks off in Bangalore on 25th August and will proceed to other cities. The idea behind organizing the conclave is to promote SMEs in the IT hardware sector by providing them a platform to highlight their issues and develop awareness on various government schemes for the sector that can create a conducive environment for SMEs to function in the country.

Commenting on the upcoming MAIT ICT SME Conclave, Amar Babu, President of MAIT, said "For over three decades, MAIT has been working towards the growth of ICT industry in India and addressing the key concerns of the industry. SMEs, through their rapid growth and proliferation, play a key role in ensuring the growth in the sector remains on track. With this conclave, we aim at providing SMEs an opportunity to engage with various government departments and widen their understanding on various schemes and initiatives on offer that can work towards creating new business opportunities for them".

Anwar Shirpurwala, Executive Director, MAIT opines, "SME Conclave is an initiative which brings together SMEs from across the country onto a single platform which addresses their requirements and gives them an opportunity to update their knowledge about various business opportunities, latest technologies, investment opportunities available in IT sector in India and abroad". The conclave will witness participation from various government agencies from central and state level that will provide a boost to the IT hardware sector, which is growing at a decent pace as was outlined in the recently release MAIT-ITOPS report. The Bangalore leg of the conclave is supported by Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC)and major sponsors like Intel, Amazon and NSIC.

The government, in the recently presented budget, has focused on measures related to the development of the SME sector in the country. SME Conclave will equip the SMEs to prepare themselves thoroughly for evaluating the business opportunities and take necessary actions in developing their enterprises with the help of IT to achieve business goals. It will also provide the SMEs a networking opportunity for connecting with various government officials and policy makers.

The proposed dates for the conclave across 5 cities are-· Bangalore -25th July· Hyderabad- 1st August· Pune- 13th August· Ahmedabad- 21st August· Noida- 28th August
