Maharashtra starts Lokarapan with a safe city

PUNE, INDIA: Maharashtra has kick-off an innovative initiative named Lokarapan (dedicated to people) and is optimally leveraging technology to meet its goals.

For a start, it has installed next generation video surveillance and physical security information management (PSIM) solutions in Pune.

The task of implementing a state-of-the-art command, control and center (C3) was successfully executed by Mumbai-based Master Systems Integrator, Allied Digital by using Verint Systems situation management center and video management platform.

The Verint system has been integrated with GIS/ GPS, ANPR and video analytics system. It will also be integrated with criminal data base and transport authority database.

The project covers 640 sq km with 1250 IP cameras at 440 junctions, command and control center and viewing stations at police stations in the city. The total cost of the project that includes services for 5 years is Rs 225 crore.

The installation is a part of Maharashtra’s various safe city projects. The project is aimed at curtailing and successful detection of thefts, traffic violation, chain snatching and robberies and murder cases, increasing the efficiency of policing.
