Maharashtra DIC stresses on asset approach to IT

PUNE, INDIA: “Maharashtra’s IT policy offers many incentives and facilities for the IT and ITES based companies in the State”, said MV Bhagat, Jt. Director of Industries, District Industries Center (DIC), Government of Maharashtra. He emphasized the importance of using licensed software as an asset. Assets become liabilities if adequate attention is not given to their management, he added. The Seminar was organized by FICCI with the support of Mahratta Chambers of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA)

“Software Asset Management” (SAM) is an ISO standard for measuring policies and procedures of companies for IT assets. Business Software Alliance headquartered in Washington DC, USA has 140 countries as its members. Software Asset Management is a key enabler for higher productivity and business growth especially where ERP and SAP packages are used as tools for higher efficiency. SAM involves People, Processes and Technology and needs to be factored into the business cycle, said Lizum Mishra, Director, BSA (India) Operations while addressing the delegates.

Earlier, Dr. Vaijayanti Pandit, Director, FICCI-WRC gave an overview of the Progressive Maharashtra Project which is PPP between FICCI and the Government of Maharashtra to build sustainable competitive advantage. 

Anant Sardeshmukh, Additional Director General, MCCIA informed about the state of the art Industrial Convention Center and Industrial Trade Center that can accommodate 2500 delegates that is coming up in Pune.

The seminar was addressed by experts from Ernst and Young, KPMG and Symantec amongst others in the technical sessions., shares a press note. 

This seminar was another step forward to retain Maharashtra as a number one investment destination and build a sustainable competitive advantage.
