CAMS Expo 2005, a major IT event in the region, is expected to attract more than 15,000 visitors.

“The main objective of the exhibition is to bring vendors and customers on the same platform, so that they can interact with each other. It is only through such expos the customers can update themselves on all the latest technologies in the market, while vendors can get the right feedback from customers,” informed K Senthil Nathan, president of CAMS.

The theme this year for CAMS Expo is Wi-Fi. As wireless is all pervasive and driving the market, CAMS want to focus on Wi-Fi solutions available in the market. Taking this endeavor further, CAMS has made the entire exhibition hall Wi-Fi enabled to offer better convenience for the users.

The association has tied up with Airtel for Wi-Fi, with 256 kbps broadband connectivity during the event. “Wireless is the buzzword in the industry and Madurai, though an upcountry market, is also not lagging behind with the developments in the industry. Lately, laptop sales has increased as it offers true mobility for the users, along with Wi-Fi solution, providing anytime, anywhere access to the Net. CAMS would ride on this wave to promote all products and solutions related to mobility,” said M Selvaraj, secretary, CAMS.

CAMS said it was overwhelmed by the response from the vendors as it closed the bookings for all its 40 stalls much in advance. The exhibitors would display wide range of products from several leading brands.

“Every year the patronage is good and increasing for our show. We have taken several things into considerations to keep our customers (exhibitors) happy by offering good service to them. The stalls are well designed and laid out in the 5000 sq ft centralized AC hall to offer great convenience for both vendors and the visitors,” said Senthil.

Intel is the major sponsor for the event and this time, the company has taken up a huge space to market their new products. AMD and Tally are the other major sponsors for this event.

The expo would be mainly targeting the home and educational segments in Madurai. “There is a huge potential in the end user market and Tamil Nadu is known for its strengths in the educational segment with more number of colleges and institutions, spread across the State. Currently, all these institutions are offering computers and laptops to its students, which itself a big opportunity for the channel community. CAMS is also however aware of the SMB opportunities in the region, and had sent out invitations to all leading companies here,” Senthil added.

CAMS has also announced a lucky draw where the prizes will be given away every one-hour, mainly to attract the visitors. Prizes for the lucky draw are being sponsored by the participating companies.
