Chennai based Maars Software International Ltd. has posted
a 89 per cent jump in net profit at Rs. 3.51 crore, in the second quarter ending June 30,
1999 over Rs. 1.85 crore in the same period last year.
Net sales has gone up by 53 per cent to Rs. 14.05 crore
from Rs.9.17 crore in the same period last year, while the total expenditure was
Rs. 10.84
crore from Rs. 7.05 crore in the same period last year. After an interest of
Rs. 9.15
lakhs as compared to Rs. 14.31 lakhs last year, the gross profit was Rs. 3.94 crore from
Rs. 2.05 crore in the same period last year. Export turnover recorded a 62 per cent
growth. Depreciation was Rs. 42.86 lakhs from Rs. 20.33 lakhs in the same period last year
and there was no provision for tax. The paid-up equity share of the company is
Rs. 7.18 crore.
Maars has entered into an agreement with CCG GmbH of
Germany for implementing and supporting SAP projects in Eurpoe. Maars has commenced
operations in the area of e-business as IBM ATP has set up centres in Chennai, Bangalore,
Baroda, Vijayawada and Coimbatore.
An additional 12 site licenses of the flagship product-Maarsman have been sold in the second quarter. The company also launched the
specific version of Maarsman for the vertical market segment of package industries.
Maars has signed a co-operative development and marketing
agreement with a German company PMK. Dedicated to project management skills and software,
it is the business partner of SAP and Microsoft. The agreement is around PMK's flagship
product SAMi.
The product provides a seamless link between project
systems in SAP to Microsoft projects both upward and downward. Under the tie up, Maars
will develop additional modules with specifications from PMK and the same will be
integrated to release SAMi version 2.0. These modules are for capturing cost and resource
information from the SAP database.
Maars will have exclusive marketing right of SAMi 1.0 and
all versions thereafter in the territory of entire North America, including USA, Canada,
UK, entire Asia including India and South east Asia and Australia.
It has also signed a cooperative development and marketing
pact with a German firm Project-management Krug of Berlin.
